Why do we call it reclamation and not scrapping?
Well good question, NELA Broadcast consultants understand there
are materials and components inside existing NTSC transmitters
that can be hazardous. NELA Broadcast Consultants will
remove all of this material and dispose of it properly.
This is a very time consuming procedure. For example, most
UHF Klystron transmitters have a spark gap, that is radioactive.
This has to be handled very carefully. Tubes, and certain
ceramics are made of a chemical call Beryllium that is also very
hazardous. NELA Broadcast will dismantle, and remove these
components, before the system is recycled. Basic needs for
most full power stations are
as follows:
-
Station will provide extendable boom
type forklift.
-
Station will provide suitable
egress for removing transmitter.
-
Station will provide containers and
dispose of coolant fluids.
LPTV services are a lot easier on us
and on you. Most one or two rack unit pickups can be preformed in
hours, not days. We flat rate LPTV systems plus mileage in
Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, other states will require
overnight stays.
